Out With The Old

Rehabilitation, Not Restoration

The Palacio de la Musica is undergoing a rehabilitation, not a restoration. The difference is suttle, yet important. A restoration of a building is to restore the building to it´s original form. A rehabilitation, such as the one LC-Architects is administering on the Palacio de la Musica, is not only to restore, but to improve certain aspects in order to accomodate for modern use and aestetics.

With the rehabilitation of the Palacio de la Musica, there needed to be changes to the original structure in order to meet the requirements of modern age. These changes included the removal of certain components within the structure.
